Metrowest Dance Academy Policies

Tuition Fees

Tuition is averaged across 10 equal payments for the regular dance season, running September 2026–June 2027. A $45 annual registration fee is due at enrollment for all students, in addition to tuition. The first tuition payment is due at enrollment; the remaining payments are due the 1st of each month, with the final payment due May 1st. TUITION IS NON-REFUNDABLE, regardless of missed classes due to vacation, illness, school holidays, closures, or withdrawal. A late fee of $25 will be applied to any tuition not paid by the 5th of the month.

Important notes:

  • Tuition does not increase in price for months with five weeks, nor does tuition decrease in price for holiday-shortened months. Rather than issue fluctuating monthly tuition charges, tuition prices are averaged across the entire dance year. One monthly price. One monthly payment.
  • Missed classes do not result in tuition credits or refunds. Students may make up a missed class in another class of the same or lower level within 30 days, based on availability.
  • Upon enrollment, you must provide a credit card, debit card, or checking account number to be placed on file in Metrowest Dance Academy’s autopay tuition system. Tuition may be paid via check or cash before the first of every month if you do not wish to utilize the autopay system. Nevertheless, an electronic payment method must still be placed on file with Metrowest Dance Academy to ensure tuition is paid in full.

Mid-Season Enrollment

Students enrolling after the season has started must pay the current month’s tuition and the following month’s tuition at the time of enrollment, in addition to the $45 registration fee, to bring their account one month ahead.

Attendance

Rosters are kept for every class. Please notify the office at info@metrowestdance.com as soon as you know your child will miss a lesson.

  • If a student is kept home from school sick, please do not send them to dance that day.
  • If a student Grade 2 and above is injured and unable to dance (but not sick), please send them to observe class and take notes. Consistent attendance is essential to progressing at the expected rate.
  • Excusable absences (grade-required school functions, religious holidays, family emergencies or illness) per semester are based on weekly class load:
    • 1 class/week — 2 excusable absences
    • 2+ classes/week — 3 excusable absences
    • If a student takes more than one class on a given day, missing that day counts as a single absence, regardless of how many classes fall on it.
  • Students may make up a missed lesson in a different class at or below their own level. This must be arranged in advance with the office or info@metrowestdance.com.

Punctuality

Punctuality matters — please leave enough time for your student to dress and prepare before class begins.

  • Encourage young students to use the restroom before class.
  • Hair should be secured neatly in a bun for ballet classes and securely away from neck and face for other genres.
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes before class starts to ensure your student feels prepared and ready.
  • Correct uniform must be worn to every class.

Reception Policy

To keep the reception area comfortable and classes free from disruption, please observe the following:

  • No climbing on furniture, running, screaming, or shouting.
  • Keep noise to a minimum so classes are not disturbed.
  • Clean up any spills or food before leaving.
  • Return toys and books to their places after use.
  • When viewing through the windows, please take turns with other parents. We also encourage stepping back from time to time rather than watching continuously, so dancers can settle into class and build independence.

Parking Lot Etiquette

Please proceed with caution while driving, as many dancers are entering and exiting the studio.

  • Drive slowly when entering and exiting the parking lot.
  • Watch for dancers entering and exiting the building, as well as walking across the lot.
  • Be patient and courteous.
  • Do not park in handicap spots unless you have a valid handicap sticker.
  • Please pull into a spot before your dancer exits the vehicle – this prevents blocking the entrance to the lot.
  • Thank you for setting a good example and helping keep our dancers safe.

Attendance & Performance Policy

Dance is a discipline built through consistent training, practice, and application of feedback. A dancer’s presence in class is essential — regular attendance builds stronger technique, stage presence, and confidence. Attendance is taken at every class, and refunds will not be given for absences.

Auditions

Auditions are held in September for The Nutcracker and in January for featured roles in the spring performance, for selected levels. Students who miss The Nutcracker audition will be considered for a corps/group role. Students who miss the spring performance audition will not be considered for a featured role.

Reporting an Absence

  • Email info@metrowestdance.com for any absence due to illness.
  • All pre-planned absences must be submitted in writing by email,

Attendance & Casting

  • Dancers who exceed their allotted excused absences and have not made up the missed classes before a performance may be removed from the show at the director’s discretion.
  • Casting is based on an audition, application in all classes and the previous semester’s attendance.
  • Before auditions and casting, notify the office of all conflicts during the rehearsal period, including regular classes.

Performances Are a Priority

All dancers must prioritize performances and rehearsals in their schedule, and are expected to attend all classes and rehearsals for their grade every week.
